FAQs

Do you have a coaching qualification?

Yes, I hold the Accredited Diploma in Transformative Coaching from the Animas Centre for Coaching. I am also credentialed by the International Coaching Federation at ACC level and am currently working towards my PCC qualification.

Do you only offer leadership and career coaching?

Yes. They are areas I feel passionately about, having taken great pride in my own career and professional identity and worked alongside senior executives for so many years.

What is 'Transformative Coaching'?

Different types of coaching elicit different types of change. For instance, 'Performance Coaching' drives change at a basic level within our immediate environment and our behaviour - it is outcome-driven and nothing more. 'Developmental Coaching' takes the experience a step further, unlocking change and growth within our skills and competencies, but leaving our identities unchanged. 'Transformative Coaching' elicits the most profound change of all, positively shifting who we are, our values and sometimes even our perceived purpose in life.

What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

Broadly speaking, coaching focuses on positive change whilst therapy looks at emotional difficulty. Or put another way, coaching defines goals and moves forward, whereas counselling tends to focus on processing and healing in the present.

What is the history of coaching?

The coaching industry as we know it is relatively young - around 20 years old. What started as a 1960s workplace method designed to motivate and boost efficiency has now blossomed into a democratised global platform which blends psychology, philosophy and various learning techniques. At present the coaching industry is unregulated, but it has been increasingly professionalised by various coaching bodies such as the ICF (International Coaching Federation) founded in 1995 and the AC (Association for Coaching) and EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council), both founded in 2002. Nowadays it is even possible to study coaching as a vocational qualification at university, as well as a Masters or a Doctorate degree!

Will I have to fill out paperwork if we decide to work together?

I have a simple contract which I'll ask you to read through and sign digitally so we start off on the same page about how we'll work together.

How soon can you see me?

How soon can we have a conversation? Get in touch using my contact form or book your free discovery call here.

Where do your sessions take place?

All my sessions take place online, via Google Meets.

How does a typical session run?

I will open the session by asking you what you'd like to explore. To ensure our time together is focused and productive, we will define a clear outcome which we will then revisit throughout the session. We will also conclude our session by defining next steps (if applicable). I will keep time so that you can relax into the session. I may occasionally make notes, but these are for my own personal use only. Everything we discuss is confidential, unless I deem you to be at risk to yourself or someone else.

Will you give me the answers I need?

I'm afraid not. If I did, they would be my answers, not yours. But I will create an environment in which you can find your own answers, with my coaching support.

How often will we meet?

I can provide a recommendation based on our discovery call, but you will ultimately decide the cadence of our sessions based on what suits you best.

Will we explore one topic over a course of sessions, or one challenge per session?

We will explore whatever feels most pressing to you at that moment. Some weeks, that might be a bigger, longer-term topic. Other weeks, it might be something more specific and timely.

Do you ever work with groups?

Yes indeed. I worked in advertising for 15 years across multiple sectors, so am very comfortable with group coaching scenarios and co-creation workshops.

I run a team and I'd like your help. Do you offer workplace coaching?

Yes, I can prepare a bespoke proposal for your organisation if coaching with me is something you would like to offer your employees.

Do you have a coach?

Yes, I have a brilliant supervisor I choose to invest in to ensure that I am 1) practising ethically and 2) continuing to grow and develop my skills and knowledge. They also specialise in leadership and career coaching and we meet monthly.

Can we work together across different timezones?

If our waking hours overlap then yes!

Do you offer concessions?

How do you accept payment?
